PT Asuransi Sinar Mas was established on May 27, 1985 under the name PT. Sinar Mas Dipta Loss Insurance with letter No. Kep-2562 / MD 1986. In 1991, the Company changed its name to PT. Sinar Mas Insurance. PT. Asuransi Sinar Mas (ASM) is one of the largest general insurance companies in Indonesia. Throughout its journey, ASM showed sustainable growth. Gross premiums and total assets of the Company have consistently increased from year to year, including in the years when there was a global economic shock.

On June 14, 2011, ASM won the Best Insurance Award version of Media Asuransi Magazine with equity of more than Rp 750 billion. In 2012, ASM won the Best General Insurance 2012 with Equity of Rp750 billion and above from the 2012 Insurance Awards. In 2013, ASM won the Best "General Insurance" in the Non Listed Company - Asset> 200 billion category from the Indonesia Insurance Award 2013.
